meet me at the next stop

An anthology style, mixed media installation
A Curious Creators Collaboration

meet me at the next stop is a collaborative anthology-style mixed media installation by CuriousWorks’ emerging artists. Staged on a replica bus stop, meet me at the next stop unpacks the realities of our everyday interactions, exploring themes of anxiety, capitalism, comfort and home. meet me at the next stop invites you to take a break from the everyday commute and rethink your public transport journey and the daily grind.

Housed within the structure are six works across a variety of forms, including audio, video, photography and collage. A pair of ‘lost’ headphones play the internal monologues of two different passengers waiting for the bus; an audio-visual work plays on the timetable pole; the scrolling advertisement screen plays an ongoing silent satirical video advertising Rise and Grind Inc. with a poster of mock products on the other side; and at the back of the bus stop are photographic portraits of local Blacktown cultural leaders.

An exhibition opening night took place at Blacktown Arts in November, accompanying CuriousWorks annual Urban Stories event. The evening was a wonderful celebration of the year and the exhibition remained installed over several weeks, with some fantastic feedback from audiences.

“Portraits of Comfort is a collective collage. To me this project is about providing a sense of belonging, giving a sense of pride from where you come from.”
