Given the postponement of many of our community programs and the many months of lockdown, 2021 was a great year to build the skills and knowledge of our team through the various professional development opportunities that hit our inboxes daily.

- Miranda Aguilar shared their stories with other Western Sydney storytellers at Queerstories in February;
- Andrea Lim and Samantha Barahona attended ChangeFest NT21, a 3-day national celebration of place-based change in Darwin in June;
- Miranda Aguilar and Andrea Lim facilitated a workshop titled ‘Tradition and Me’ with Multicultural Youth Affairs Network - MYAN NSW as part of their CODEBREAKERS Program in November;
- Staff participated in various online COMPACT Alliance Action Groups covering topics including ‘Personal wellbeing and collective trauma’, ‘Engaging and inspiring young people in a lockdown’, ‘Navigating the “Infodemic”, and ‘Safeguarding Social Cohesion during COVID-19’.
- Daisy Montalvo and Miranda Aguilar collaborated on a UNSW research partnership to investigate creative approaches to community engagement through media and communication in Western Sydney. Read about their insight in the report publication - Media, Art and Stories;
- Diego Murillo, Huy Nguyen and Cristabol Olguin collaborated on Fairfield City Museum and Gallery’ Behind the Lens innovative arts and music program in June;
- CuriousWorks facilitated multiple online workshops as part of the Western Sydney Arts Alliance School Holidays Online Program in September.
