FUNPARK

Youth Leadership Committee
Bidwill Uniting
Fortnightly meet-ups throughout 2023

The Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) is a group of young people (aged 18-25yrs) from across Mount Druitt who care about their community and want to have a positive impact on social issues through creative action. The YLC play an important role in advising community leaders on issues that are relevant to young people. Through fortnightly meetings where they steer the direction of FUNPARK events and activities, the YLC develop skills in creative producing, community organising and advocacy. In 2023, the YLC advocated for the installation of lights in Bidwill Oval, harnessing community concern, collecting signatures and taking their petition to the Mayor of Blacktown in person.

Mount Druitt is profoundly rooted in resilient communities that celebrate and advocate for its people, culture, and place. Often misinterpreted and underestimated, this heartland is home to a myriad of individuals, programs, and establishments that breathe life into its every corner. The "Strength in Stories'' calendar attempted to capture this genuine spirit, spotlighting those who define and enrich the community with their diversity, resilience, and vibrancy. Through a focus on the people behind the numerous services, institutions, and cultural groups, our intention is to not only honour them but to also weave an authentic narrative of Mount Druitt's multifaceted identity.
