BUSH COUNTRY VOICES
A multi-screen projection work
Bush Country Voices is an immersive audio/visual experience that launched at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in April 2021. This multi-screen projection work captures the incredible landscapes of Western Sydney Parklands – Australia’s largest urban park.
The work seeks to challenge and explore our relationship to Country. Audience members listen to traditional custodians, artists, environmental experts and urban planners as they share their thoughts on the Parklands’ past, present and future, while reflecting on their own evolving feelings about the land.
"That's how Aboriginal people look at the landscape, as a living body... so the rivers are your blood, the rivers are your veins, and you can't separate yourself from that."
This work involved a number of Curious Creators: Samantha Barahona, Sivani Yaddanapudi, Dani Sitto, Cristobal Olguin, Adam McPhilbin, Miranda Aguilar. It was directed and edited by Elias Nohra, with music by James Peter Brown.
Bush Country Voices was co-curated by Western Sydney Parklands, City People and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
